Ústí nad Labem - Due to public complaints, the leadership of the city of Ústí nad Labem will have the pavement in a section of Hrnčířská Street replaced, which was reconstructed last year. People found it difficult to walk on the split stone. The replacement, which will take about two weeks, will cost the city’s treasury four million crowns. This was reported today by the city spokesman Milan Knotek.

The reconstruction of the city center, which included Mírové Square and the adjacent Hrnčířská and Revoluční Streets, cost 150 million crowns. The city received 92.4 million crowns from structural funds, and the state budget contributed 15.4 million crowns. The remaining more than 42 million crowns were covered by the city’s budget.
The most extensive modifications to the Ústí center since the end of World War II included, for example, the construction of new engineering networks, the installation of new municipal transportation stops, new road surfaces, basalt and granite pavement, and the planting of a row of hornbeam and pear trees in Hrnčířská Street and additional greenery in the square area. New benches, drinking fountains, fountains, poster columns, and lighting have also started serving the residents.
The replacement of the pavement in the section of Hrnčířská Street began today. The builders will dig out the split cubes and immediately replace them with cut ones. The new pavement will have a smooth surface and be without joints, Knotek noted. According to him, the old cubes will be given to the Ústí Zoo.
