Ústí nad Labem – The Ústí Region will attempt for the third time to sell the castle in Liběšice in the Litoměřice area. The cultural monument, which used to house an institution for the mentally disabled, is being offered for 35 million crowns. The region also wants to sell properties at former border crossings in Rumburk and Mníšek in the Ore Mountains at auction. This was announced today by the regional administration.

The complex of the baroque castle has been empty since the end of 2015, when the last clients of the institution moved to other facilities managed by the region. The first auction took place in the spring of 2017. No one showed interest, and neither did the second time, when the starting price was around 40 million crowns.

The main building is U-shaped with three wings and has five floors. There are several other buildings in the complex, as well as a heritage-protected Art Nouveau greenhouse.

The castle residence was built by the Jesuits between 1738 and 1752, apparently according to a design by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer. After the order was dissolved in 1773, the castle was owned by a religious and educational fund. In 1838, Ferdinand Lobkovic purchased the estate, and in 1871, the textile magnate Josef Schroll, who converted the residence into a comfortable castle. After 1945, it was nationalized by the state and converted into a retirement home.

The region is also offering properties from the former border crossing in Horní Jindřichov near Rumburk in the Děčín area. The starting price for the land and buildings in the customs area is 34.6 million crowns.

The starting price for the collection of properties at the former border crossing Mníšek in the Ore Mountains is 21.4 million crowns.

In all three cases, the region offers two dates for interested parties to view the properties. The auction of all three property collections will take place on October 15.
