Kutná Hora/Lbosín (Benešovsko) - A lookout tower is being opened on the Kaňk hill near Kutná Hora on Tuesday. At the top of the 30-meter high building, a café will serve visitors during the day, which will transform into a romantic restaurant with a view of the night-time Kutná Hora after sunset. Michal Holík, the owner and operator, said this to ČTK today. Another lookout tower is currently being constructed in Central Bohemia on the Březák hill near Lbosín in the Benešov region.
The construction of the lookout tower above Kutná Hora was co-financed by the European Union, and according to Holík, the total costs have reached nearly 60 million crowns. The building also includes an elevator. "The massive tower of the lookout is the only one built from impressive Cyclopean stone masonry since the days of the First Republic," Holík stated. A renovated excursion restaurant will also open near the lookout on Wednesday.
Recently, a more than 50-meter high lookout tower, Bohdanka, was completed in Bohdani, which was also funded by the EU. Another similar structure is now being built by the CHOPOS association of municipalities on the Březák hill in the Benešov region. The costs are estimated at seven million crowns. Of this, 1.8 million CZK will be covered by a grant from the strategic Leader plan financed by European funds, Jaroslava Tůmová from the non-profit organization Posázaví informed ČTK today.
The Špulka lookout tower will stand on the highest hill in the microregion, which is located near significant monuments such as the Český Šternberk castle or the Jemniště and Konopiště châteaux. An educational trail will lead around the new landmark.
