Industrial heritage will be the main topic of the international conference titled Technological Monuments and Their Use in Norway and the Czech Republic. In addition to lectures and excursions, the organizers will also offer a discussion on the conversion of the Lower Vítkovice Area among conservationists, an architect, and a representative of the investor.
The conference will take place on April 5 and 6 in Ostrava.
The National Heritage Institute invites you to the international conference, which aims to open a professional discussion on the current state of knowledge, protection, and use of industrial heritage in the Czech Republic and Norway. At the conference, speakers from the partner organization Riksantikvaren and affiliated institutions in Norway, as well as representatives from engaged universities and private owners, will participate. In an international and interdisciplinary context, the results of the project Industrial Heritage – Exchange of Experience in Documentation and Assessment of Industrial Heritage, which was carried out with the financial support of the EEA FM in 2014-2016, will also be presented. The exhibition will also present bilateral cooperation, which participants of the conference and interested parties will be able to view in the renovated premises of the NPÚ headquarters in Ostrava.
“One of the most interesting points of the conference could be the final discussion on the conversion of the Lower Vítkovice Area, which will take place on-site among a representative of the investor, an architect, and conservationists,” says the director of the Methodological Center for Industrial Heritage in Ostrava, Doc. Miloš Matěj.
The conference features a rich accompanying program. In addition to excursions to the Michal Mine or the Lower Vítkovice Area, participants can also visit the Gallery of Fine Arts in Ostrava, where an exhibition titled Leopold and Paul Kupelwieser will be opened with a ceremonial vernissage.
