Bílovice - The manufacturer of urban furniture mmcité1 from Bílovice in the Uherské Hradiště region has received the prestigious Red Dot Award 2020 for its multifunctional bench Manta. The unconventional seating concept in public space was designed by designer Lucie Koldová. The shape and name Manta were inspired by the movement of the stingray, reported company representative Lenka Šubrtová to ČTK today.

"I am very happy that Manta evokes so many positive emotions. I love the city, the movement of people, the vibrating energy, and my goal was to create a figurative oasis, a stop in place and time," said Koldová.

The bench can be used in all types of public spaces, indoors and outdoors. It consists of a bent aluminum plate resting on a delicate steel structure, and their mutual harmony can be enhanced by choosing a color combination. Other material options are being prepared, as well as a set of optional accessories.

The renowned global design award Red Dot Award has been awarded annually since 1952 in three main categories - design concept, communication, and product design.

The company mmcité1 is part of the mmcité group, which was founded in the early 1990s by then design student David Karásek with his classmate Radek Hegmon. Since then, mmcité products have received numerous international awards. The furniture from mmcité1 can be seen, among other places, on the viewing terrace at the Helbronner cable car station in the French Alps at an altitude of nearly 3,500 meters, at the artificial canal in Dubai, at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, and at the headquarters of American companies Google and Uber.
