Sokolov - In Sokolov, the funeral ceremony hall at the municipal cemetery is being renovated. The repair of the interior and publicly accessible facilities began in June and will last approximately two months. The costs for the modifications to the funeral hall will reach around 1.4 million crowns. During the reconstruction, the last farewell to the deceased will take place in the monastery church of St. Anthony of Padua, said Sokolov Mayor Renata Oulehlová (ANO) to reporters.
"The reconstruction will be complete. Floors will be changed, handrails will be adjusted, new sound equipment will be installed, and a new catafalque will be provided. We expect this renovation to create a dignified place for saying goodbye to those who have passed away,” said Oulehlová.
The original flooring in the ceremony hall, foyer, and adjacent corridor will be replaced by the city with new materials. The plaster will be repaired, and the walls and ceiling will be painted. Additionally, the wooden staircase will be reconstructed, and the original wooden radiator covers will be replaced with new stainless steel ones.
The total costs of 1.4 million crowns also include new furniture. Besides the new catafalque, the city will also replace the lectern and the furnishings of the hall, including armchairs, benches, and chairs in the funeral hall. The city also aims to install new lighting in the ceremony hall, which is not included in the original costs.
