Říčany (near Prague) - The town hall of Říčany is missing the last 1.6 million crowns for the construction of a day center for seniors. Total costs will not exceed 14 million and most of the funds are secured by the city. Part will be released from the budget and part should be obtained from a major sponsor. This sponsor intends to contribute five million crowns to the construction, but has the condition that another three million be raised through a public collection. So far, the collection has managed to gather 1.4 million crowns, Adéla Michalová from the Říčany town hall told ČTK today. The collection was announced last May and the city has now launched a campaign aimed at gathering the final funds by the end of the year. If successful, construction will begin next spring. "We have a very generous donor who is contributing five million crowns to the construction of the center. He has one condition, we need to raise another three million in a public collection. And we are only a short distance from the goal," said Mayor Vladimír Kořen (Calm City). To support the project, the city is organizing a charity gala evening on December 4 at the U Labutě cultural center, which will be hosted by actor and singer Josef Laufer. In the past, other artists have also supported the construction, including actor Václav Postránecký, who lives in Říčany. The Olga center will cater to seniors with reduced independence and the need for all-day care. It will allow daily stays for ten to 14 clients and four clients as part of respite services, for example, for an entire week. In addition to meals and assistance with personal hygiene, it will provide social contact, help with personal affairs, and offer therapeutic assistance. Construction will take place according to the design of architect Jiří Švehlík at Komenského náměstí, in close proximity to the home with nursing services.
