Prostějov will have the fountain in Spojenců Square repaired, from which water is leaking

Prostějov – The Prostějov town hall is preparing to repair the fountain in the Spojenců Square, which has a damaged base and is leaking water. Due to its poor technical condition, the fountain cannot be filled for now. The repair will cost nearly 300,000 crowns, and specialists will carry it out in April. This was communicated by the mayor's deputy Jiří Pospíšil to ČTK.

"The last comprehensive reconstruction of the fountain in Spojenců Square was carried out in 2008, when the work was realized at a total cost of approximately 1.2 million crowns. Since then, the city has regularly conducted smaller repairs of the internal concrete surface and repainting, which are necessary for the annual spring commissioning of the fountain," said Pospíšil.

Last year, the city only ordered temporary repairs, which only temporarily addressed the fountain's poor technical condition. "The reason for the planned repair is primarily the damage to the bottom of the fountain, which would cause water leakage when filled. Thus, it is not possible to put the fountain into operation this year without the repairs," noted Pospíšil.

The Department of Property Management and Maintenance of the city, in cooperation with FCC Prostějov, has ordered a specialized company that has experience with similar interventions. The same repair technology was used, for example, during the reconstruction of the fountain in Juliánov Square in Brno, the fountain at the castle in Napajedla, or the fountain in Vyškov.

Experts will remove all damaged layers from the fountain and adjust it entirely. The contract also includes the repair of the fountain's cladding and the cleaning of the nozzles. "The repair is planned for April, assuming suitable weather conditions. Once the work is completed, the fountain should be ready for operation again and serve visitors and residents of the city during the upcoming season," noted Mayor František Jura (ANO).
