Prague – The Prague Development Company (PDS), which was established by the city last year, has announced a public tender for the preparation of a project for a kindergarten with a gym and community center on Sicherova Street in Prague 14. This was reported today by the city hall spokesperson Vít Hofman in a press release. This is the first of eight public tenders that PDS plans to announce in the near future.
According to the spokesperson, the kindergarten is to be built in the new center of the Na Hutích district, where the city also plans to construct rental apartments and a square with shops and services. Interested parties can apply until January 10, and the city aims to start construction next year. "We plan that alongside the kindergarten with a gym, which will be built by the capital city, our district will build a playground with a sledding hill,” added the deputy mayor of Prague 14 Radek Vondra (TOP 09).
In the Na Hutích neighborhood in Kyje, the city plans to build a housing project with 180 to 520 apartments within ten years, with the exact number depending on the planned change in the zoning plan. In addition, the city council has already approved the preparation of several other rental housing projects in Dolní Počernice, Nové Dvory, Vršovice, Smíchov, Palmovka, Ládví, and Zlíchov.
For the mentioned projects, PDS plans to announce another five tenders and two architectural competitions in the near future. "Our buildings will serve for decades, and therefore it is important that they have architectural quality, are friendly to people and the environment, functional, and economical," stated the organization's director Petr Urbánek.
So far, according to previous information, the city hall has entrusted PDS with land covering approximately 419,000 square meters with a market value of 2.94 billion crowns. The company is to handle projects throughout the approval processes up to the zoning decision and building permits. Construction will then be carried out in various forms, including in cooperation with the private sector, cooperatives, or building communities. The goal is to increase housing construction in the metropolis and expedite the preparation of projects, which currently often takes more than ten years. Prague has been facing a housing crisis and rapidly rising housing prices in recent years.
