Prague - Prague will announce a tender for a company to repair the dilapidated Šlechtova restaurant in Stromovka. The intention was approved today by the Prague councilors. The work should cost a maximum of 169 million crowns excluding VAT. The council's decision from March was approved today by the Prague representatives. Prague has already announced a selection procedure for a company to remove excess soil from the restaurant's garden. The monument-protected restaurant has been deteriorating for decades, and its repair has been repeatedly postponed in the past.

The repairs of the monument were originally estimated to cost around a quarter of a billion crowns. However, the architect was tasked with simplifying the too costly project, so expensive staircases, elevators, and unnecessary sanitary facilities will be reduced. The new price of the repairs is expected to be under 169 million crowns excluding VAT. "This is a financial ceiling, we expect that the contract will be awarded for a lower amount," said culture councilor Jan Wolf (KDU-ČSL/Trojkoalice) to journalists earlier.

The building of the Šlechtova restaurant, formerly known as the Royal Pavilion, is a cultural monument. It is named after its last owner, Václav Šlecht. Its oldest part dates back to the end of the 17th century, but the building was completed in the mid-19th century. In 1978 and two years later, the building was burned, and it has been deteriorating ever since. It was also damaged by flooding in 2002.

At the moment the actual reconstruction begins, the city will announce a tender in which it will seek an operator for the restaurant.

The surroundings of the restaurant will also be renovated. The city has already announced a tender for the removal of excess soil. The selected company is expected to remove about 2000 cubic meters of soil. A new gastronomic background will also be created around the restaurant, and there will be two new restaurants here.
