Prague - The Prague City Hall is preparing to complete the Šutka Aquapark complex in Prague 8. Currently, it is finalizing the project to finish the leisure part of the complex, where areas for sports and restaurants will be created. Costs are estimated at tens of millions of crowns. In response to a query from ČTK, Prague councilor Jan Chabr (TOP 09) said this today. Currently, there is basically only a swimming pool operating at Šutka. The area is managed by the city company Trade centre Praha (TSP) and the pool area is operated by the contracted company Montservis. The construction of Šutka began in 1987 and was opened in 2012.
"There were savings and urgency to open it as soon as possible, and it was forgotten that the leisure part should also be completed. Today, the project documentation for the leisure area is being finalized. In a few weeks, it should be ready how it will be completed," Chabr said.
According to the councilor, the complex should include, among other things, a gym or a sports hall, and the establishment of a wellness center is also planned. There should also be a restaurant above the shop.
The total costs are estimated at 75 million crowns. "The volume of investment will also depend on that restaurant and its kitchen equipment and so on. We are trying to find a way for a larger part to be paid by the future tenant or operator," said Chabr.
The city leadership still has to decide whether in the future to lease the entire complex to one or more managers and operators.
The grand opening of Šutka took place on January 17, 2013. Construction started at the end of 1987, and the anticipated completion date was 1994. However, due to a lack of funds and land restitution, work was halted several times. Prague paid 748 million crowns for the construction of the complex. In addition to a 50-meter swimming pool, visitors have access to, among other things, an aquapark with slides and toboggans and a children’s pool. The capacity of the complex, which is barrier-free, is about 900 people. The parking lot has a capacity of 270 spaces.
