Prague – The Prague 3 municipal office will announce a public tender with an estimated value of 216 million crowns including VAT for the renovation of a panel house on Táboritská street. The local councilors decided on this. Prague 3 is gradually reconstructing panel houses intended for privatization. In February, they selected the company Subterra in a competition, which is reconstructing a panel house on Blahoslavova and Roháčova streets for 182.6 million crowns.
The reconstruction will involve three entrances to the building constructed at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s. The main work will consist of insulation and the replacement of the roof and windows. "The repairs will enhance the overall technical condition, prolong the lifespan, and ensure the static safety of the buildings, including a new architectural appearance," the document approved by the councilors states. The main evaluation criterion for selecting the construction company will be the price.
The municipal district is also reconstructing five entrances on Blahoslavova street and one on Roháčova street. Earlier, they had already repaired buildings on Jeseniova, Ostromečská, Ondříčkova, and Roháčova streets.
After the renovation, Prague 3 sells the apartments to tenants. Last year, the representatives of the municipal district approved the sale of apartments in panel houses on Roháčova and Ondříčkova streets. Their tenants criticized the fact that the price had increased based on new price assessments compared to previous privatizations. According to the municipal leadership, it was still very advantageous.
In recent years, Prague has been struggling with a housing crisis caused by high housing prices. There are about 30,000 apartments owned by the city and the municipal districts, down from the original 194,000 that transferred to city ownership after 1991. This was followed by privatizations that reduced the municipal fund by more than 80 percent. The current city leadership has declared that it no longer wishes to sell apartments and instead wants to increase the municipal fund. However, the municipal districts make independent decisions about their apartments without the need for approval from the city hall.
