Prague - A suitable setting of state support for the construction of energy-efficient buildings can increase the performance of the domestic economy by one percent. This was stated in an analysis published today by economist and member of the National Economic Council of the Government Miroslav Zámečník. Additionally, the funds spent by the state will be recouped within a year.
"If the state spends one million crowns on energy-saving measures, a positive impact on the gross domestic product in the range of 2.13 to 3.59 million crowns can be expected," stated Zámečník. According to estimates, domestic applicants for support can annually draw on ten to twelve billion crowns.
Zámečník also claims that the investment will be returned to the state within one year. The funds are expected to be returned through income taxes from construction companies and their employees, from social and health insurance of employed people, and on unpaid social benefits that would otherwise need to be paid to all who would be unemployed without this program.
The search for ways to support economic growth was also supported by economist Luděk Niedermayer from Deloitte. "Slow growth threatens not only the fiscal stability of the country, but with this risk, the concern grows that our country will fall into the category of fiscally endangered countries. In this situation, supporting projects with high macro multipliers is an appropriate response," he stated.
