Under the Veveří Castle, the transport company is building a new dock

Brno - The transport company is building a new docking station for its boats at the Brno reservoir under the Veveří castle. The advantage will be barrier-free access under the castle; until now, people had to climb stairs in the rock after disembarking from the boat. For this reason, the new docking station has been moved closer to the castle. It is expected to open with the start of the boating season in April, spokesperson Barbora Lukšová informed ČTK.

The construction costs nearly ten million crowns. The stop under the castle is one of the busiest, as many people combine a visit to the castle with a boat trip. "Partially, it is necessary to fill in the bay, where a smaller resting place will be created next to the existing spring," Lukšová stated. It will also be possible to connect barrier-free to the tourist walking path.

The transport company continues to improve access to the boat following last year's investment, which resulted in a new docking station at Kozí horka for 2.5 million crowns. This also has barrier-free access, which is useful not only for wheelchair users but also for families with strollers.

In recent years, there has been growing interest in boating on the Brno reservoir. Last year, the boats carried 240,000 passengers, which was the highest number in the last 19 years. The 70th anniversary of the start of boating on the Brno reservoir was also celebrated, which has been electric since its inception.
