The reconstruction of the park and its surroundings consisted of three construction parts. The local municipality is funding the castle park with the help of European funds, while the castle biotope and café are being funded from its own budget. The entire reconstruction cost over 105 million crowns. The construction work lasted 14 months, three months longer than the original schedule.

The park complex has existed since 1931 and was created as a facility for the Exhibition of Physical Education and Sports. The vast exhibition area became a popular walking spot. After the war, the park began to deteriorate, and the last exhibition pavilion fell into disrepair in 1977. More extensive renovations took place in the 1980s.

In modern history, the first study for the revitalization of the park was created in 2002. In 2011, the first revitalization began, but the company soon interrupted the work. The second bidding process was handled by the antimonopoly office, which delayed the start of the park's restoration. The reconstruction was also complicated for four years by a dispute with nature conservationists, who opposed massive tree felling. Therefore, dozens of trees were not cut down.
