Pardubice - In the fall, the first phase of the revitalization of the panel housing estate Závodu míru in Pardubice will begin for 13 million crowns. This was stated today by the mayor of the city district I, Jaroslav Menšík (ANO). The city has repeatedly failed to obtain subsidies, so it will start repairs using its own funds. The entire restoration of the housing estate will take several years and will cost approximately 140 million crowns.
The district is announcing a call for tender for a construction company. Repairs in the courtyards will begin at the BMX training area. The company will repair the parking lots, sidewalks, build new playgrounds, cover the container stations, and modify and plant green areas. The investment is funded by the district along with the city. "Given that we have promised this for the fifth year, we have agreed with the city that we will carry out this phase without subsidies," said Menšík.
According to the mayor, it would be ideal to continue in phases every year. The city will apply for subsidies again, or will cover the repairs from the city and district budget. Each phase will cost at least ten million crowns, said Menšík.
About 2500 people live in the housing estate. It was built in the 1970s. Its area is smaller than the original plans; the tower blocks were also supposed to be built at the site of the former Prokop factory, and a large Builders' Square was intended to be created by the waterfront. In the end, only part of the grand project was realized, and the panel construction was moved to Karlovina.
