Znojmo

Znojmo - The repair of the bridge over the Dyje River in Znojmo, which was to begin in mid-September of this year, has been postponed for the time being. The city council canceled the results of the public procurement process for work valued at seven million crowns. The Znojmo municipality announced this in a press release.

The reason is that the winning company withdrew from the contract, and the other companies in line have declined due to capacity reasons. "We will announce a new public tender for the repair of the bridge over the Dyje. I hope that other companies interested in the project will apply, and we will start the repairs in the fall," said the mayor of Znojmo, Jan Grois (CSSD).

The bridge over the Dyje, which connects Koželužská and Mlýnská streets, is suffering from partial static defects in its structure due to heavy traffic. The planned reconstruction includes, among other things, repairing the foundations of the pillars, replacing four wooden pillars, cleaning and repainting the steel structure and the roadway, as well as adding railings. The city estimates the costs at around seven million crowns.

The repairs were scheduled for the fall months because the bridge is located in a tourist-heavy area popular with families and kayakers who start their journey down the Dyje from there.
