Brno - The renewed Architecture Gallery in Brno opened today to visitors. It is operated by the Faculty of Architecture of the Brno University of Technology in collaboration with the Czech Architecture Foundation. The current exhibition maps the project of Adam Hudec, who focused on dust and dustiness in cities as both a problem and a phenomenon. The exhibition will last until the end of the year, informed ČTK on behalf of the organizers, Romana Tomášková.

The operation of the gallery is part of the efforts of the Faculty of Architecture to establish contact and dialogue with both the professional and wider public. According to Dean Jan Kristka, the university is not "a tower of silence" and should engage in the public space.

"This is something we are also trying to do within the framework of the pilot opening of the Architecture Gallery in Brno. Allowing this accessible and attractive institution for visitors to decline would be an irreplaceable loss for Brno's culture," Kristka stated.

The Architecture Gallery is located on Starobrněnská Street. Visitors can currently find Hudec's exhibition Dust Collection there. Through small and larger objects and installations, including facade samples, it aims to highlight the dust that creates a "patina" on buildings in a short time, while simultaneously representing the negative impacts of human activity.

"Dust Collection is a scientific-artistic project examining dust particles as carriers of toxins and viruses, products of our culture and economic cycles that have settled over time on the facades of not only cultural monuments. This layer of dust is constantly removed as a symbol of the bitter truth about polluted nature, air toxicity, and the omnipresent climate change," Hudec described.
