Towns in the Highlands are preparing hundreds of new plots for houses

Jihlava - Town halls in the Vysočina region are preparing several hundred more plots for family houses. This year, two dozen municipalities received state support for the preparation of new residential areas. The Ministry for Regional Development will contribute over 23 million crowns to the construction of technical infrastructure for approximately 300 housing units. This is evident from data published by the ministry on the internet.
    The first grants were distributed in the first half of this year, when 12 settlements from Vysočina succeeded. In the second round, another eight municipalities and towns in the region were included among the successful applicants. The smallest of them, Panenská Rozsíčka in the Jihlava area, received a grant for eight houses. About a hundred people live in the municipality. According to Mayor Bohumil Novák, the construction of new houses is important for further development.
    "More residents means more money for the municipality. We want to maintain a shop," Novák told ČTK today. The first eight plots in Rosíčka were available seven years ago. Back then, the municipal office asked only five crowns per square meter. The plots are already taken again now, when a square meter costs 50 crowns, and they are being purchased by people from towns in the Jihlava area. Looking ahead, the municipality plans to prepare over 20 plots for builders.
    Polná in the Jihlava area received the largest state support in the second round, preparing 27 plots. Kožlí in the Havlíčkův Brod area will develop plots for 22 houses, and Pacov in the Pelhřimov area for 19. The state contributes 80,000 crowns per housing unit.
    Town halls in Vysočina mostly sell plots at prices that do not cover the incurred costs because they want to retain residents. The most sought-after plots are mainly in municipalities near the largest centers. Small municipalities that are not within reach of cities usually offer square meters for several dozen crowns, while in cities, prices commonly range from 300 crowns to 800 crowns.
