Prague - Municipalities can obtain up to 234 million crowns from European funds for the processing of their regulatory plans. Applications for grants can be submitted through the Integrated Regional Operational Program (IROP) starting from October 1, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Regional Development, Veronika Vároši, informed today. By the end of September, the Ministry of Regional Development (MMR) will announce calls for project submissions from five other areas. "Support will be directed toward the processing of regulatory plans initiated by the municipalities that do not replace zoning decisions. In this call, we are ready to provide municipalities with over 235 million crowns," stated the Minister for Regional Development, Karla Šlechtová (for ANO). The regulatory plan specifies detailed conditions for the use of land, for the placement and spatial arrangement of buildings, including public infrastructure, and for creating a favorable living environment. It defines public beneficial buildings and public beneficial measures. Applicants, who are municipalities with extended powers, can prepare applications for support starting today, and from October 1, 2015, to March 31, 2017, they may submit them for evaluation. Projects will be evaluated continuously based on the date of submission of the application. Project implementation must be completed no later than December 31, 2019. More information is available on the IROP website. By the end of the month, the ministry, which is the managing authority of IROP, intends to announce calls for project submissions in five other areas. Specifically, this concerns activities leading to complete electronic submissions, highly specialized care in the fields of oncology gynecology and perinatology, operational and animation expenses for local action groups, and deinstitutionalization of social services. The Integrated Regional Operational Program replaces the regional operational programs that fell under the regions in the new programming period 2014-2020. From the European Regional Development Fund, EUR 4.64 billion (CZK 125.56 billion) has been allocated for the Czech Republic. The program mainly focuses on transport infrastructure and services, social issues, healthcare, education, culture, e-government, energy savings in housing, and territorial documentation of municipalities. Among other goals, it aims to create 729 kilometers of reconstructed or modernized roads, 225 kilometers of newly built cycling paths and routes, and 5,000 social housing units. Support is expected to be granted to up to 1,341 educational institutions and 383 social enterprises.
