Lbosín (Benešov region) - The construction of the Špulka lookout tower near Lbosín in the Benešov region has fully commenced on the Březák hill. It is expected to be completed in October. The project is the work of the CHOPOS association of municipalities, which has also secured funding from private donors. Jaroslava Tůmová from the non-profit organization Posázaví informed ČTK about this today.
The contracting company has already started earthworks and has built a reinforced concrete foundation, on which the middle part of the lookout tower will stand. The wooden structure will be anchored around the entire perimeter into 18 micropiles. All parts are being manufactured outside the region, and according to the preliminary schedule, they will begin assembling on Březák in October.
According to its coordinator Miroslav Kratochvíl, the project is a testament to the cooperation of people working and living in the region. "I dare say that especially the financing of the project is quite unique these days. A large part of the lookout tower is being constructed from funds contributed by people whom the initiative appeals to," he stated. Currently, the amount provided by donors has exceeded 700,000 CZK. The total costs amount to around seven million crowns, with a portion being covered by the EU.
During the summer, work was carried out on the educational trail leading to the lookout tower, mainly assisted by volunteers who worked on the path from Lbosín. Wooden panels were placed along it, which will be filled with text and images by children from five schools in the microregion during September. A wooden signpost was installed in the upper part of the Lbosín village square, which still needs directional signs. In the middle section of the trail, a pond and its surrounding area were modified.
Recently in Central Bohemia, a more than 50-meter-high lookout tower called Bohdanka has risen in Bohdanská in the Kutná Hora region, which was also partly funded by the EU. Another similar structure was opened on the Kaňk hill near Kutná Hora. At the top of the 30-meter-high building, a café serves visitors during the day, which transforms into a romantic restaurant with a view of the night Kutná Hora after dark.
