Liberec - The representatives of Liberec approved a change to the zoning plan on Thursday evening, thus paving the way for the construction of a large shopping center in the Perštýn district. The four-story Galerie Perštýn is set to be built on unused land in the center of Liberec, where terraced houses were previously planned. This is reported by today's Liberec supplement of Mladá fronta Dnes (MfD). The German company ECE aims to open the shopping center by the end of 2009. The project includes 100 stores, a parking lot, and several buildings with 150 apartments. The company is considering eliminating the current roundabout near the shopping center and replacing it with a large traffic light intersection. At the last meeting, members of the council did not approve the change to the zoning plan. However, most of them were convinced by the presentation that ECE held for them on Tuesday. According to MfD, the company captivated them with its transportation solutions around the future Galerie Perštýn and the combination of shops and apartment buildings.
