Jihlava - Today, the representatives of the Vysočina region approved the sale of the former Buchtův kopec sanatorium in the Žďár area for 18.15 million crowns. According to the information on the website of the region, the buyer is the company B.R.A. Technology based in Prague, which was the only one interested in the extensive premises. The region was informed that it intends to use it for rehabilitation healthcare operations and that it will make the necessary building modifications within three to five years. This was stated to the representatives by the head of the region's property department Petr Kolář, adding that the region cannot enforce the implementation of this intention.
The region has been trying to sell the property for about five years. From the originally requested 50.3 million crowns, it gradually reduced the price. The minimum price for the last round of sale was set at 18 million crowns last December. The region did not include the manner of further use of the former sanatorium as part of the sale conditions. However, according to Kolář, the interested party had to deposit a security of 300,000 crowns, which will be forfeited if the purchase does not proceed.
The former sanatorium, which has several pavilions located in the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area, includes about 19 hectares of land, partly forested. Governor Jiří Běhounek (for the ČSSD) stated that the regional management rejected the sale of individual buildings or plots. "Because what would happen to the rest, no one would want that," he said.
Opposition representative from KSČM Milan Plodík was interested in what use the former sanatorium near the village of Daňkovice and the town of Sněžné allows according to the zoning plan. "The citizens in the area are certainly concerned," he said. According to Kolář, the area is reserved for healthcare and social services. "Of course, a change in the zoning plan is the prerogative of the respective municipalities," he said.
The Buchtův kopec sanatorium, located at an altitude of 720 meters, was completed in 1947 and was initially used for the treatment of tuberculosis. Most recently, it served as a long-term care facility operated by the regional hospital in Nové Město na Moravě. According to earlier information from the region, the facility was operating at a loss and was closed at the end of 2011. The care for the empty premises costs around 1.1 million crowns per year.
