Koberovy – A new atypical observation tower resembling a rocket has been built for 17 million crowns by Koberovy in the Semily region. It is located at the top of the Hamštejn hill, and the Golden Path of the Czech Paradise leads around it. It offers a panoramic view of the Krkonoš, part of the Jizera Mountains, Ještěd, Lužické Mountains, České Středohoří, and the Czech Paradise, said the mayor of the municipality, Pavel Pospíšil.

"The tower is a combination of steel and wood, with the main load-bearing column being a steel shaft around which the staircase spirals. It has 121 steps," stated the mayor. The circular observation tower is 25 meters tall, while the observation platform is about three meters lower. According to the mayor, the tower will be accessible for free and will be illuminated at night on special occasions.

The construction of this tower several years ago was part of an ambitious but unfulfilled cross-border Czech-Polish project. Its goal was to build or renovate 22 observation towers, viewpoints, and trails in the Euroregion Nisa. Some municipalities decided to implement the prepared projects on their territory themselves. In Albrechtice in the Jizera Mountains, there has been a new octagonal observation tower on Světlý peak for several years, whose viewpoint resembles a bird's nest. Nearby Tanvald also has a new atypical viewpoint, whose elliptical shape is meant to represent an inverted egg.

Koberovy obtained a seven-million crown subsidy from the Ministry for Regional Development to build its observation tower, and the selected company constructed it from May to October this year. "The parts of the tower were prepared in halls, so nothing was welded on site; it was constructed from pieces that were transported quite complicatedly along a temporary panel road, where the steepest point had a gradient of 24 degrees. It was challenging to get even heavy machinery in the form of two cranes there so that the pieces could be assembled," Pospíšil added.
