Klaus signed the amendment on electronic entries in the land register

Prague - The President of the Republic Václav Klaus today signed an amendment to the law on the cadastre of real estate. Among other things, it allows proposals for registration in the cadastre to be submitted electronically with the help of an electronic signature. The amendment also restricts the ability for anyone to anonymously access an overview of all real estate owned by anyone throughout the Czech Republic.
Minister of Agriculture Petr Gandalovič said during the discussion in the Chamber of Deputies that he wants this possibility to be available only to applicants who properly identify themselves and state the specific purpose for which they need these outputs. "This is to ensure that any potential misuse of such data can subsequently be addressed by the Office for Personal Data Protection," said the minister.
The amendment also changes the way ownership rights to buildings are recorded. As the owner of a newly registered building, the owner of the land on which the building is erected will be recorded. In other cases, the relationship between the landowner and the building owner will need to be regulated by a special document, according to which ownership will then be recorded in the cadastre.
