Karviná – The popular Karviná area Lodičky in the park Božena Němcová is preparing for reconstruction. The work is set to begin in October and will last until next May. The cost of the complete reconstruction of the area will be about 46.5 million crowns. This was announced to reporters today by the spokeswoman for the city hall, Monika Danková.
"The contract with the winner of the tender for implementation has already been signed, and preparations for the start of work are currently underway. The most significant change will be a new covered facility that will provide better facilities for cultural and social events and will also become a new architectural element of the area," said the spokeswoman.
The project includes storage rooms, a bar, and new sanitary facilities. The number of toilets will be expanded, and new furniture will be added. The children’s playground will also be enlarged with new play elements, and additional exercise machines will be added to the workout area. Tree planting is also planned.
"Lodičky belongs to places that have their unique atmosphere and are inseparable from Karviná. We do not want to change this character; on the contrary, we want to provide better facilities for the area and create better conditions for cultural, social, and community events," stated Mayor Jan Wolf (independent).
The new building is expected to be the centerpiece of the area. Its shape is based on the geometry of the current structure. "We are really looking forward to the new facilities. We know well that Lodičky is not just a place where people come for a concert. Families, athletes, park visitors, and those who just want to sit quietly come together here. The number of visitors has been increasing every year, and thousands come for larger events, while the current form of the area is no longer sufficient in terms of capacity or operation,” said Lukáš Heczko, chairman of the Initiative Dokořán, which manages the area.
Before the work begins, visitors will have the opportunity to symbolically bid farewell to Lodičky at an event planned for September 18. "We will commemorate 15 years of our presence in this place and say goodbye to the area in the form that people know it today. The evening will include the popular Acoustic session and a special musical guest, whose name we will not reveal yet. We want it to be a celebration of everything we have experienced together here, but also a looking forward to a new chapter,” added Heczko. The area was last reconstructed in 2010 and 2011, with a modernization cost of 28 million crowns.
