The third year of lectures prepared in collaboration with the Katharsis Association at Charles University will conclude with a lecture by Tereza Hadravová on the topic: The Function of Housing Estates in Contemporary Cinema.

What does the interaction of a person with their environment consist of, in a space primarily built to satisfy their needs? An aesthetic perspective on the issue of architecture allows for reflection on the relationship between the person and the space they inhabit. The traditional role of architecture is to fulfill practical goals, providing protection and a background for various human activities and actions; at the same time, it also has a representational, spiritual, or decorative function. Nowadays, the aesthetics of architecture is often neglected, but both areas have much to offer: the specific social dimension of architecture and, conversely, the more abstract perspective of aesthetics.
