Prague - Construction activities for larger residential projects are currently in accordance with the schedule. This was stated by representatives of development companies whom ČTK contacted today. However, some admitted that construction deadlines may be delayed. They are also suspending regular inspection days at construction sites or limiting the operation of client centers.

"We are not limiting construction activities for our projects currently under construction. All construction work continues according to the schedule so that we can meet our commitments to our customers and suppliers. Most of the units from the currently under-construction projects have already been sold, and we will meet the completion deadlines in this situation just as we have always done in the past," said Michaela Tomášková, CEO of Central Group.

According to her, the company has decided not to offer new projects that it intended to launch for sale during this period, considering the current situation with the spread of the new coronavirus. "This is mainly because people are understandably focused primarily on health protection, and they also cannot visit our client center due to the current restrictions on the movement of people," noted Tomášková. Central Group has suspended the operation of the client center in Pankrác. At least until March 24, it is providing all customer service through electronic communication or by phone.

"Work on our development projects is proceeding according to plan. The only changes are that workers are wearing masks, and the number of people in one room has been limited to a maximum of two. At the same time, regular inspection days, which are otherwise characterized by a concentration of a larger number of people, have been temporarily suspended," added Trigema spokesperson Radek Polák. According to him, there is no risk that work would be slowed down or stopped.

Finep and Ekospol have also not interrupted construction activities on their projects. "Construction companies still have enough building materials, material deliveries are functioning, and suppliers, like the entire market, are assessing the situation every day. It is logical that the current situation, which is changing literally every moment, may likely affect the regime of construction and building work. One can expect possible delays in construction, but everything depends on further developments," said Finep spokesperson David Jirušek.

According to YIT Stavo's commercial director Dana Bartoňová, the company already considers a certain reserve in project preparation, so even a short-term interruption would not cause delays. "To protect our workers, clients, and partners, we have decided to limit our presence in the offices during these days. Personal meetings are not taking place, but we are available to our clients online and by phone," she stated.

According to the production director of JRD, Roman Havlíček, construction projects are continuing, although some sites are facing restrictions from subcontractors or foreign workers. "We know that the construction schedule may be extended, but we are currently unable to estimate how long those delays might be," Havlíček added.
