Brno Modern - Book Launch at Villa Stiassni
Baptism of new publication from Paseka publishing house. The authors of the book are Renata Vrabelová, Vladimír Šlapeta, Petra Svobodová, and photographer Pavel Hroch.
The event will take place on Monday, January 9, 2017, at 5:00 PM in the MCMA lecture building in Brno, entrance from the street Preslova.
The publication follows the successful series of guides "Modern Prague" and presents, through words and images, over one hundred significant buildings that have emerged in the Moravian metropolis from the rise of Art Nouveau through the search for a national style during the First Republic, modernist breakthroughs primarily associated with functionalism, to the fascist and communist totalitarianism that interrupted the architectural development for a long time. The selection of objects, presented in their current state in photographs by Pavel Hroch, creates an idea about the individual periods, the development of technologies and aesthetic views, as well as the political and economic changes. The guide is divided into chapters according to city districts and also includes maps highlighting the objects.
