Brno - The University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Brno (VFU) has completed the construction of a new study and information center. The four-story building with two atriums cost 307 million crowns. It received its occupancy permit last week. The center will house, for instance, the deanships of all faculties, the study department, the university archive, and the library, the university spokesperson Alena Sýkorová informed CTK today.

The construction of the building, divided into three blocks, began in 2010. According to VFU representatives, the new center is the heart of the campus, where future veterinarians, pharmacists, and students of related fields are educated.
On the first floor, students will find a computer room, a space for relaxation and refreshments. The foyer is decorated with atypical seating in the shape of molecules. On the fourth floor, which connects all three blocks, the architects placed the university library.
The new building also houses the Institute of Foreign Languages and the History of Veterinary Medicine. The university archive, which preserves documents since 1918, will move to the basement.
The university has scheduled the grand opening of the center for March 8. Shortly thereafter, the relocation of various departments will begin, Sýkorová stated.
