The international expert jury evaluated 59 competition entries that came from more than 15 countries around the world. In addition to 20 Slovak teams, teams from Poland, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Spain, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, Italy, France, the Netherlands, as well as Indonesia and China and the USA competed for the awards.

1st prize - Mandaworks AB + Hosper Sweden AB / Stockholm (Sweden)
As informed by the chairman of the jury Drahan Petrovič, the jury worked for two days and selected the proposals in two rounds. After the first round, 36 proposals remained in the evaluation, from which 10 competition entries were advanced to the final assessment. The jury evaluated these in great detail and depth, in several stages. First, the proposals were subjected to a collective discussion, then to individual assessment, and in the final phase, they decided on the final five works recommended for awards. Finally, in the concluding vote, the jury decided on the ranking of the top three places and the allocation of two special prizes.

The winner was the Swedish team Mandaworks AB and Hosper Sweden AB from Stockholm, who succeeded with their competition proposal titled Tracing Trencin (Stopy Trenčína). Commenting on the winning work is the representative of the jury chair, Prof. Thomas Matta from HSR Rapperswil University in Switzerland: “This is not a design that is strikingly stunning, but it is a work that best reflects all aspects of the competition's brief and its criteria among all the submissions. It is a design that is considerate of the existing structure of the historic center, sensitively complemented by new construction, allowing for a quality connection between both banks of the Váh River with interestingly designed functions and manageable transportation. It captures the request of the people of Trenčín for a quality connection of the city with the river while respecting the natural features of the river.” As further indicated by the jury's statements, this proposal is also appreciated for the balance of functional use of spaces on both sides of the river, suitably connected by a future promenade bridge.
As clarified by the chief architect of the city Martin Beďatš, these are conceptual proposals that will serve as a basis for the zoning plan of the central urban zone. Before the final decisions are applied in its creation, the winning works will undergo a public discussion in addition to professional analyses, the start of which is planned for September of this year. In the same month, a public exhibition of the competition works is also planned.
