The authors of the awarded works came to Trenčín to personally present their proposals
The authors of the works that won the first three prizes and two special awards in the international urban planning competition Trenčín - City on the River presented their proposals in Trenčín in the presence of jury members and the Trenčín public.
The event took place on October 1, 2014, at the Metro cinema on Mierové námestie. The following day, October 2, 2014, a conference titled TRENČÍN is YOU - city development inspired by citizens was also held at the same location, organized under the patronage of the project partner, the SPECTRA Center of Excellence at STU BA.
In the introductory part, the attendees were greeted with a speech by the ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Slovakia, Mr. Alexander Wittwer. Conference participants discussed the topic of participatory planning as a tool for sustainable urban development and the resulting processes at the level of local government. They also presented examples of good practices from abroad in comparison with the approach taken by Trenčín in searching for solutions for the riverside.
Both events were held under the patronage of the mayor of Trenčín, Richard Rybníček. Financial support was provided from the Block Grant funds for the support of partnerships of the Swiss-Slovak Cooperation Programme, funded by contributions from the Swiss Confederation and co-financed by the state budget of the Slovak Republic.
In the ArtCentre Synagóga in Trenčín, an exhibition of 59 proposals from the urban planning competition Trenčín – City on the River is still open to the public, daily from 2 PM to 6 PM. Take the opportunity to familiarize yourself with all the competition entries that competed for the favor of the jury in the international urban planning competition on the connection between the city center and the riverside. The exhibition will last until the end of November 2014.

The chief architect of the city, Martin Beďatš, the project expert guarantor, Peter Gero, and other members of the Trenčín is You team will present the obtained outputs from the completed urban planning competition and the process by which the competition results will be utilized in further steps in preparing the briefing for the creation of the spatial plan for the central city zone in broad collaboration with the public. The event will take place on Monday, November 24, 2014, at 5:00 PM at ArtCentre Synagóga, Trenčín.
