London - The British magazine Wallpaper*, which looks almost the same as the Czech DolceVita*, announced the winners of its Design Awards on January 11. The Czech Republic had one contender in the form of the nomination of Villa Lea for "best new family house." In the end, the award in this category went to John Pawson for Baron House located in Sweden. In the final selection of five buildings were Pawson and A69, along with Álvaro Siza's son, who shares the same name as his father. His house on the slope was mentioned in a Christmas survey by architect Prudík as the most interesting house of the past year for him. The remaining nominations went to a house in Chile by Felipe Assadi and the OS house by the Spanish studio Nolaster. In the "Best New Hotel" category, Home in Buenos Aires won. The best public building is Morgan Library with the museum expansion in New York by Renzo Piano (competing alongside Hearst Tower in NY by Foster, Nouvel's Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, the Norwegian viewpoint in Aurland by Saunders&Wilhelmsen, and Phaeno Center in Wolfsburg by Zaha). The best clothing was made by Prada, and the best city is reportedly Istanbul. The Google Earth application was also recognized, being rated as the most useful contribution to our lives.
