Last night, there was a screening of short films by spouses Charles and Ray Eames at the architectural club of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects. They selected from a hundred films created between 1950-78. The Eameses explored the aesthetics of everyday life in their films. Their footage was accompanied by entertaining, engaging statements about complicated mathematical rules, as seen in their most famous film Powers of Ten. With the centenary of Charles Eames' birth approaching, similar events will be increasing. For example, at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, an exhibition of furniture designs by Charles and Ray Eames titled “Products, Processes, Prototypes.” As part of traditional film picnics, Eames' film Powers of Ten will be screened this Thursday at the Faculty of Architecture in Brno.
