Residential Tower in Singapore by OMA

The architectural office Rema Koolhaas announced the day before yesterday that it has been approached to design a residential skyscraper for Far East Organization (the largest private development company in Singapore). The thirty-six-story building, standing around 150 meters tall, is set to rise near the popular Singapore shopping area Orchard Road. Koolhaas's design looks like four equally sized (yet differently tall) towers, which are then suspended from a slim core with a cross-shaped footprint (each at a different height). This reduces the building's base to a minimum, allowing for ample space on the ground floor for social leisure activities. According to Ole Scheeren, the final form was developed based on strict building regulations and after optimizing the views from individual apartments in relation to the surrounding development (a prime example of the hyper-rationalism of their office). The tower will contain 68 apartments with a total area of 20,000 m². Link>
