From the Prague Jaroslav Fragner Gallery, the exhibition SAFE (Sustainable Autonomy for Everyone) will move to the exhibition hall of the castle in Pacov. Pioneer of houses made from garbage, American architect Michael Reynolds will present his work on dozens of panels - projects of energy self-sufficient homes made, among other things, from beer cans, PET bottles, old tires, and plastic bags. The exhibition will be opened by founders of the Civic Association Zeměloď Martin Pruška and Margarita Manev, who completed the first Czech "land boat" (as these unique buildings are called) near Sázava in May of this year in the presence of the author Michael Reynolds. Location: Pacov Castle, Pelhřimov District Date: July 7 (opening at 1 PM) - August 7, 2012 The exhibition is part of the multi-genre festival Pacovský poledník, which takes place on July 6 - 7, 2012.
Visit the newly opened Pacov Castle The baroque castle, which is a movable cultural monument, has undergone transformation since 2007. The southern and western wings have been modified for the needs of an information center, museum, library for children and adults, a multi-purpose castle hall, a permanent exhibition of painter Jan Autengrubera, and other exhibitions dedicated, for example, to the history of motorcycle sports. The building dates back to 1708, when the original castle was gradually transformed into a monastery with the church of St. Wenceslas by the Barefoot Carmelites. Plans for further construction activities were proposed in 1739 by the famous architect and builder Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer. During Joseph II's reign, the monastery was abolished (1787) and the building was again used as a castle. In 1947, it was occupied by a military garrison, which did not leave the premises until 1992. The southern and western wings were ceremonially opened to the public this year. The castle was reconstructed according to a proposal by Vyšehrad studio (Zdeněk Rychtařík, Jiří Smolík), and the navigation system was designed by Studio Najbrt. The Vyšehrad studio approached all valuable parts of the castle sensitively. The floors, staircases, and all furniture are new and custom-made. The castle garden has also been newly redesigned.
