In Prague on February 25, 2010 - The largest exhibition of theatrical scenography and architecture, the Prague Quadriennale (PQ), now knows two more cornerstones of its structure - the jury and new venues. This prestigious and highly attended event will take place next year from June 16 to 26 at several locations in the metropolis, centered at the Trade Fair Palace - the building of the National Gallery. Here, two main exhibition (and also competitive) parts will take place: the Section of Countries and Regions and the Students' Section. A nine-member international jury, which includes prominent figures in contemporary world theater, will decide on several awards, including the highest accolade, the Golden Triga. Whether it be South African playwright, director, and scenographer Brett Bailey, who himself took the Golden Medal from PQ 2007, Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, or the director and artistic director of the world-renowned company Farma in the Cave, Viliam Dočolomanský.

In addition to the mentioned Trade Fair Palace, the Prague Quadriennale expands with its extensive main and accompanying program to places such as the New Stage or the piazza of the National Theatre, to the DAMU building, where the creatively conceived Scenofest will take place, to the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery or to the space of the Prague Crossroads (St. Anne's Church). Here, the Architectural Section will find its supporting background. “We are still negotiating with other locations, including an industrial hall in Prague, where we are preparing a special project with the National Theatre opera company and a star team,” reveals Daniela Pařízková, the Executive Director of PQ 2011. More detailed information is available at www.pq.cz.

The goal of the Prague Quadriennale of scenography and theater space is to bring closer the current work of theatrical visual artists, designers, and architects from around the world. Therefore, the organizers are preparing, as they did for the past edition - in addition to purely professional lectures, discussions, and workshops aimed at active artists - a multitude of program points accessible to both professional and lay (and of course also children's) audiences. These will take place through various installations, performances or site-specific projects also in the public space of the capital. Currently, around sixty countries have registered for the Prague Quadriennale, including traditional participants such as the USA, Germany, Mexico, and newcomers like Singapore and Kazakhstan.

The most extensive of the program sections of PQ traditionally remains Section of Countries and Regions. The curatorial concepts of individual national exhibitions should present all scenography fields: set design, costume, lighting, and sound design, etc., and the connections between them. The Czech Republic will be represented by the project of theater dramaturg Marta Ljubková and scenographer Andrea Králová. As in previous years, a large space will be dedicated to students of art schools in the so-called Students' Section, which will again include Scenofest - an educational project consisting primarily of workshops and site-specific performances. The question "What is today's space for theater?" will be addressed by the Architectural Section, which will focus on the diversity of theater space in the 21st century - from theater buildings to site-specific to virtual space, as well as strengthening the dialogue between theater architecture, scenography, and contemporary theater.
