"I value the interest of everyone who supports modern buildings in Plzeň, whether they design, build, live in, admire, or nominate them for awards like the Hanuš Zápal Prize. Over the past four years, truly exceptional works have been created in our city. It has been a pleasure to be a part of it," says the mayor of Plzeň, Martin Baxa.
The mission of the Hanuš Zápal Prize, the award from the mayor of Plzeň, is to find, evaluate, and highlight quality buildings that represent the architectural culture in Plzeň over the past four years. The goal is to promote public and investor interest in the creation of architecturally, aesthetically, and technically valuable structures that can elevate the building culture of the city.
Proposals for nominations could be submitted free of charge by anyone, either in writing or through the website of the Department of Concept and Development of the City of Plzeň. The new constructions were then evaluated by a professional jury consisting of: Ing. arch. Jan Aulík, Ing. arch. Petr Franta (chairman of the jury), Ing. arch. Ivana Gantnerová, Ing. arch. Libor Monhart, prof. Ing. arch. Jaroslav Šafer, Ing. arch. Jaroslav Zima.
