The European Commission and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation have announced the nominated projects and the composition of the jury for the 19th edition of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture / Mies van der Rohe Awards (EUmies Awards), the most prestigious award for contemporary architecture in Europe.
The competition will feature 410 works from 40 countries, reflecting the diversity, creativity, and richness of the European architectural scene. The nominations, submitted by a wide network of national architectural associations, independent professionals, and the advisory committee, represent the most significant realizations completed from May 2023 to April 2025.
The jury will select 40 of these projects, which will be announced in January 2026, and in the following month will choose seven finalists. In spring 2026, jury members will personally visit the finalists and will communicate directly with the architects, clients, users, and local communities. The winners in the categories of Architecture and Emerging Architecture will be announced in April 2026 in Oulu, one of the two European Capitals of Culture 2026.
Chilean architect Smiljan Radić has been appointed as the jury chair. The jury will also include architects Carl Bäckstrand (Sweden), Chris Briffa (Malta), Zaiga Gaile (Latvia), Tina Gregorič (Slovenia), Nikolaus Hirsch (Germany/Belgium), and Rosa Rull (Spain).
