The construction of the Rožnov Cultural Center will begin as planned at the turn of spring and summer

Rožnov pod Radhoštěm - The construction of the Cultural Center in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm in the Vsetín region is set to begin as planned at the turn of spring and summer. The builders will bring individual parts to the site to assemble. This will require some traffic restrictions, the town hall spokesperson Adéla Kousalová informed CTK today in a press release. The cultural center will be the largest investment project of the city in recent years, and the town hall will pay nearly 279 million crowns for the construction.

The cultural center will be unique as it will be a wooden structure built to passive energy standards. According to the city leadership and the contracting company Taros Nova, it will be the largest wooden structure of this type in the Czech Republic.

"Currently, there is intense preparatory work ongoing at the contractor Taros Nova, specifically including measuring the acoustic properties of the proposed structures and calculations for optimizing fire safety solutions for the building. The results are continuously being incorporated into the workshop documentation, which serves as the basis for the production of the individual parts of the building," said Deputy Mayor Markéta Blinková (ODS).

Trucks will begin delivering parts to the site at the turn of spring and summer. "The site of the new cultural center will thus transform into a construction site with significant building activity during this period. Therefore, it is essential to ensure logistics at the construction site in such a way that the safety of children from the Pod Skalkou Primary School, Sedmikráska Primary School, and the children attending the Center for Leisure Activities, as well as pedestrians in the area, is particularly guaranteed," stated Blinková.

The town hall will discuss the organization of traffic and the movement of children and pedestrians in the area with schools, parents of children attending those schools, and entrepreneurs. "We plan to hold several informational meetings to prepare both schools and parents for this situation. The summer holiday period will be particularly challenging for the Center for Leisure Activities, which has summer camps," the deputy mayor mentioned.

The construction of the cultural center began in spring 2022 by the Zlín construction company Navláčil. However, they did not agree with the city leadership on changing the subcontractor for the wooden structure. They also pointed out deficiencies in the project documentation and demanded a higher price for the main construction. In autumn 2022, the company withdrew from the contract, and the city agreed with them to terminate the contract. The town hall then had assessments of the project documentation conducted, which showed deficiencies. The city agreed with the project author that the author's supervision would pass to another architect and approved the announcement of a public procurement for the construction of the center last summer. Companies had access to the project documentation, which they were to review and refine. Taros Nova was the only bidder.
