Hrochův Týnec - The town hall in Hrochův Týnec in the Chrudim region is preparing further stages of the castle renovations. Last year, it renovated the basement and the ground floor of the building. After knocking down some partitions, a library has been established, along with community spaces for exhibitions and associations. A small chapel has also been restored. The costs amounted to approximately 15 million Czech crowns, nearly ten million of which the town received as a grant from the Ministry of Regional Development.
"We will be preparing for further stages, and we will see how successful we are with grants. We will still discuss the future use; the council has not made a definitive decision yet," said Mayor Petr Schejbal (KDU-ČSL) to ČTK. The town hall already has the construction project prepared.
The cultural monument dates back to the late 17th century and was rebuilt into a summer residence by the Premonstratensians from Hradiště near Olomouc at the beginning of the 18th century. The castle underwent further modifications in historicizing styles in the second half of the 19th century. According to heritage experts, it is a valuable document of the development of noble residences from the 17th to the 20th century. The complex includes two gates. After 1945, the castle housed a children's home with a school and a center for educational care. In 2010, the town took it over from the state in a relatively poor condition; it has been empty since then. The Pardubice region contributed 200,000 crowns in previous years for the repairs of historical gates and ceiling structures.
The castle has four habitable floors. The first floor features preserved representative rooms with historic wooden frames and stucco ceilings. Filmmakers have taken a liking to the empty spaces, with scenes from the Norwegian series Atlantic Crossing and the Czech series Herec being filmed there, for example.
