Brno – The multi-purpose hall being built at the Brno Exhibition Centre will open next autumn. Workers are finishing the building's cladding and roof, which is still not closed in some areas. Inside, they are working on technologies such as wiring. This was announced to the media today by the chairman of the board of the city company Arena Brno and councilor Petr Kratochvíl (ODS). The arena has also gained a partner, which will provide its name. This is the mobile operator T-Mobile from the Deutsche Telekom group.

The construction of the city hall began in September 2023. The original costs were 4.4 billion crowns. They are now about half a billion higher. Once completed, the building will offer 30 different types of uses, will have a capacity of up to 13,300 spectators, and 1,300 parking spaces. "We plan to hold around 100 events there each year. More than 60 percent of the program will consist of concerts featuring both Czech and international music names, family shows, and other cultural events. A significant portion will be dedicated to sports. The arena will become the home of the ice hockey club Kometa Brno. We already have confirmed hosting of various European championships and world championships," Kratochvíl said.

The operator T-Mobile has signed a contract with the city company for two years with an option for an additional year. "T-Mobile is an international, strong, and technological company. We are happy for the partnership," Kratochvíl stated. According to him, the hall will not be just for Brno or South Moravia. "We see it as a complementary element of the infrastructure of the Czech Republic, so that the Czech Republic can compete for hosting international events," he noted.

Kratochvíl refused to disclose the financial terms of the partnership. However, he added that the operation of the hall will secure more revenues, such as club seats, tiers with skyboxes, or internal advertising.

According to Mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS), the partnership with the operator will bring cutting-edge technology, which will ensure both connectivity and other advantages.

"We consider the arena to be a gateway to exceptional experiences, connecting the worlds of sport, culture, and entertainment, and providing our customers with truly great benefits. We are preparing, for example, the possibility of priority ticket sales, competitions, and we are also working on special zones," said Petar Babić, the commercial director of the residential customer segment and a member of the management of T-Mobile Czech Republic. He added that the hall will feature the "T" logo, which will change according to various occasions.
