Mělnická Secondary Technical School has a new educational pavilion with nine classrooms

Mělník – The Mělník Secondary Technical School has a new educational pavilion with nine classrooms on its campus. It was created by renovating an unused dormitory building. Thanks to the new pavilion, students can be educated in one enclosed complex, whereas previously they had to attend classes outside of it. The school has been expanding over the last ten years and expects an increase in the number of students in the coming years; therefore, it is currently addressing the construction of additional teaching spaces on its campus, answered Vladimír Wasyliw, the director of the Integrated Secondary Technical School Mělník (ISŠT), to a ČTK inquiry. According to published annual reports, the school had a total of 378 students in September 2015, while in September 2024, there were 534 students.

"By the end of the previous school year, the school had rented three classrooms on the grounds of the Czech Gardening Academy in Mělník; students and teachers had to move between both campuses, which significantly complicated teaching," the director stated.

The new classrooms will serve for teaching both general and specialized subjects, particularly in the study fields of Economics and Business and the newly opened field of Lyceum focused on Security Management and Sports. "There is, for example, a physiotherapy classroom, a room for therapeutic activities, a new modern ICT classroom, and a language classroom. The building will also feature a relaxation room for students, the design of which will be created by the students of the economic fields as part of their studies," Wasyliw stated.

Each floor of the pavilion has a photocopier, which can be used not only by employees but also by students for a fee, and dispensers of filtered tap water will help ensure hydration. The total cost of the renovation and equipping of the new pavilion reached approximately 43 million crowns, funded by the Central Bohemian Region, which is the school's founder.

The Integrated Secondary Technical School Mělník offers fields such as Operational Electrotechnics, Robotics, Automation, Engineering, Electrician, Mechanical Engineer, and more. And the new pavilion has made it possible to open the field of Lyceum.
