Energy-efficient and environmentally friendly lighting for the shopping center

The Šantovka Gallery is located in the heart of Olomouc, in the immediate vicinity of the historic city center, and with a sales area of 46,000 m2, it is the largest shopping center in the Olomouc Region.
The shopping center was built on the former factory site of Milo and the surrounding land. The architectural design was created by the British studio Benoy, which has received numerous international awards since its founding in 1947.

Despite its large area, the entire complex of the Šantovka Gallery feels pleasant and airy, thanks to the well-lit passages both during the day with natural light and at dusk with artificial light. For effective and pleasant lighting of the passages, LED technology lighting fixtures in unobtrusive and clean design were used. In the suspended ceiling systems, the fixtures blend in with the ceiling in white finish, while in wooden ceilings, the fixtures are decorated in matte black RAL 9005.
The product used is the Linea 185 fixture from the Dutch company Illuxtron. These fixtures can be used for functional lighting in common areas of shopping centers, entrance halls, and corridors of office buildings, cinemas, cultural facilities, etc.

The original project with 2,344 fixtures for discharge lamps and compact fluorescent lamps considered a power consumption of 114.5 kW, while the final installed power of Illuxtron fixtures is 90.06 kW.
Thanks to this change, an annual savings of 143.9 MWh was achieved, which represents an annual savings of 415 thousand CZK in energy and 565 thousand CZK in average annual operational lighting maintenance costs.
The ecological benefit is also significant, namely a reduction of CO2 emissions by 72 tons per year. Another significant architectural element of the project with significant savings on energy and maintenance costs is the replacement of fluorescent tubes at the edges of the ceilings with aluminum profiles containing LED light sources.
