The metal ceiling is designed to serve several functions; in addition to a good appearance, it must primarily prevent dust accumulation. The new powder coating from Armstrong protects against dust and fading, allowing the ceiling to maintain its original appearance for a longer time. This innovative and patented surface is called TrioGuard™.

In environments such as train stations, subways, or manufacturing plants, maintaining cleanliness at an adequate level is a real challenge. Armstrong's innovation ensures that the metal ceiling is not only cleaner but also more radiant, resistant to environmental influences, and with lower maintenance costs.

A simulation of 10 years of wear, conducted in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute, demonstrated that the surface durability remains intact. According to the testing results, TrioGuard™ repels dust 10 times better than untreated panels. For a clear example, two samples were used—one with the TrioGuard™ coating and another without. Two grams of soil were applied from a two to three-centimeter distance. The result was measured once the samples were flipped and tapped three times. In the case of the surface treated with TrioGuard™ technology, there were no visible changes. The same results were achieved under the influence of other environmental factors, such as temperature fluctuations or increased humidity.*

*Tested using ASTM D4674: Standard practice for accelerated color stability testing (simulation for 10 years)

The impetus for development was research conducted in collaboration with 360 architects and designers worldwide who specified metal ceilings in the last twelve months. The purpose of the survey was to ascertain their interest in innovations concerning metal ceilings. On a scale from 1 to 10, where 10 was the highest score, a result of 7.8 was achieved along with positive feedback on metal products that would be dust-resistant. Respondents primarily wanted to avoid a "grey" appearance and dust, particularly around air handling equipment.
