Studio 519 (formerly operating under the name designcité+) has a relatively wide range of activities. It is not a typical design studio, but a "think tank" that designs garden furniture, camping vans, as well as sports equipment (all for the brand Egoé). The results of the work of studio 519 can also be found in the public space, specifically in transportation infrastructure projects carried out by the company mmcité+. This includes the roofing of bus stations, railway platforms, and soundproofing residential areas using noise barriers. In addition, the studio creates communication concepts for affiliated brands within the area in Bílovice near Uherské Hradiště. The studio publishes its own magazine 519 and also organizes a multi-genre festival WiFič VEN!
Intensive and long-term work by the designers of studio 519 has recently received great feedback. The studio has won a total of three awards in the prestigious Red Dot Design Award competition.
The Red Dot award was granted by the expert jury to a set of minimalist slalom skis Egoé Dip SL with a milled brand logo and the vacuum Maggot.
Another Red Dot award was received for the concept of the soundproof wall noba digi mini, whose pressed sound wave absorber utilizes recycled material derived from used car tires and also serves as space for graphic motifs inspired by the aesthetics of digital displays. The design thus adheres to the principles of a circular economy and also provides an opportunity to enrich public spaces with artistic interventions. In creating graphic designs for the noba digi mini wall, studio 519 has previously involved elementary school students directly from the project location.
The highest award that can be obtained in the competition is Red Dot: Best of the Best. It was awarded to the camping car conversion Egoé Nestbox with accessories, which transforms a regular van into a fully functional camping car in just a few minutes. Inside, users will find a bed with a comfortable mattress, a portable stove, a mobile refrigerator, a sink with running water, and cleverly designed storage spaces.
The Red Dot: Best of the Best award is annually awarded to only 1.5% of the entered products, making it the equivalent of the Oscar for designers.
