Prague announced a tender for the reconstruction of the Brandejs farmhouse into a high school for one billion

Prague - Prague has announced a tender for the reconstruction of the Brandejs Farm in Suchdol, where it plans to build a high school for approximately 400 students. The construction is also expected to include spaces for community and cultural use. The selected contractor will be responsible for both construction work and project management. This information comes from details published in the public procurement bulletin. The estimated value of the contract is 1.066 billion crowns excluding VAT.

Brandejs Farm, also known as Suchdol Castle, is a monument-protected area that, according to the city, has been deteriorating for a long time. Prague wants to carry out the reconstruction using a design and build method, in which one contractor provides the design documentation and associated engineering activities as well as the subsequent construction. According to previous information, the city expects the design work to take two years and the actual construction another two years.

The high school is to have 12 classrooms with a capacity of 408 students. The school will utilize historical buildings now referred to as the castle, forge, barn, stroller storage, and sheepfold. At the same time, Prague will have two new buildings constructed on the premises, one of which will house a gymnasium. After the reconstruction, the municipal police is also expected to continue operating on the premises, where they will have a mounted patrol, a station, and stabled horses. The plan also includes maintaining an area specifically for horse breeding as well as a small community center.

The new high school is intended to help address the long-standing shortage of places in Prague's secondary schools, especially high schools. Experts point out that the cause of the shortage is the increasing population and the fact that students from the Central Bohemian Region commute to Prague schools. In addition to building new schools, the city is also addressing the situation by expanding existing facilities, adding new wings, and modernizing campuses.

Secondary schools in Prague are established by the city hall, as are higher vocational, special, language, and basic art schools. Primary and nursery schools are the responsibility of the city districts.
