The new partner of the design portal www.myCode.cz is the company Selene, the exclusive distributor of the famous brand Artemide. Architects, designers, journalists, and the public now have a wide range of top-quality Artemide lighting available online, complete with detailed information and technical specifications.

The Italian manufacturer Artemide is now among the legendary global brands. The company was founded in 1959, and its founders Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza have been focused on designing and manufacturing lighting with a strong emphasis on high-quality product design from the very beginning. Artemide's philosophy was not to follow any design trends but to create new ones. For this reason, Ernesto Gismondi invited leading world designers and architects to collaborate, including Vico Magistretti, Mario Botta, Richard Sapper, Giancarlo Fassina, Carlo Forcolini, Ettore Sottsass, Michele de Lucchi, F. A. Porsche, and many others, including the world-renowned architect Norman Foster today.
What sets Artemide apart as a leader in the lighting industry is the constant pursuit of new directions, technologies, materials, and a close connection between high design demands and excellent technical execution with an emphasis on the functionality of lighting fixtures.

The company Selene, which exclusively represents Artemide in the Czech market, has expanded its thousands-strong portfolio of quality design on www.myCode.cz, a specialized design portal. "We decided to enter this unique project because myCode consolidates a vast amount of information for architects, designers, and other professionals in one place. Among the brands currently presented on www.myCode.cz, Artemide is in great company," says Ing. arch. Jakub Nepustil, managing director of Selene.

The design portal www.myCode.cz now covers several dozen world companies that offer quality design in the Czech market. The myCode design portal was founded in mid-2004 by a leading domestic retailer of designer furniture, the company 3D H. Interior, as a sophisticated online marketing tool. After four years of operation and intensive expansion, myCode has become one of the most functionally and content-rich websites of its kind in Central Europe. It is currently one of the most extensive information resources on global design in the Czech and Slovak Republics. In European terms, it ranks among the successful specialized websites. Designers, architects, vocational school students, and end users searching for specific products use it daily.

Profile of Selene spol. s r.o. / Representation of Artemide
The company Selene spol. s r.o. is a supplier of high-quality lighting fixtures and lighting systems with superior technical quality and excellent design. It has operated in the Czech market since 1991 and acts as the exclusive representative of a company that is globally among the absolute top - Artemide.

Artemide justifiably ranks at the forefront of global lighting manufacturers due to the quality of its product design. This is evidenced, for example, by a range of lighting fixtures included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, a series of international awards such as Compasso d´Oro, Red Dot Design Award, Observeur du Design, Haus Industrieform, and others, as well as the names of the best contemporary designers and architects among the designers of lighting from the Artemide group collection.

Artemide - the human light
The company Artemide was founded in 1959. Founders Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza have been focused on designing and manufacturing lighting with a strong emphasis on high-quality product design from the very beginning.

One of the first pioneering initiatives was the in-house development of new technology for processing plastics for the production of lighting fixtures. Another pioneering act was the first use of low voltage halogen bulbs in standard working lighting. Based on Richard Sapper's design, the TIZIO lamp was created in 1972, which, in addition to the low-voltage halogen bulb (which at the time was still bulbs for car headlights) used another completely unique element - utilizing the lamp body construction for conducting current. This lamp rightfully became the world's most famous table lamp and due to its timeless design has lost none of its qualities to this day.

In-house research on the effects of light color on human psychology has led to the development and production of fixtures that allow users to choose light colors - METAMORFOSI. The principle of creating an individual light mood is based on the possibility of remote control of the regulation of individual colored light sources (halogen bulbs with dichroic filters, fluorescent lamps with dichroic filters, colored fluorescent lamps) of the RGB system. The resulting color mood is then created by combining the intensity of individual light sources. In the latest types with built-in clocks, it is possible to program the course of light moods at designated times.

The latest result of design in the spirit of Artemide's slogan - the human light is the collection a.l.s.o (air - light - sound - other objects). In addition to light sources in the METAMORFOSI system, the lamp body also includes a sound device and an electrostatic filter for air purification. The constant search for new pathways has also led to the use of LED sources in lighting fixtures for both indoor and outdoor use.

New directions in the lighting industry do not focus solely on residential and interior fixtures. The use of the MICROLIGHT system in outdoor fixture bodies allows for the creation of entirely unique outdoor lighting of objects, where the installed reflectors do not significantly disrupt the object's appearance. Additionally, besides the advantages of MICROLIGHT technology, such as long life and low energy consumption, light pollution is significantly reduced.

Evidence of the successful development of Artemide is also the incorporation of two renowned production companies from the lighting technology field into the Artemide group in recent years, the French company MEGALIT and the German company DZ LICHT.

Artemide has established a network of its own subsidiaries in several countries around the world; production takes place in manufacturing centers in Italy, France, Germany, the USA, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. In addition, there are commercial representations in many other countries of the world, including the Czech Republic, specifically the company Selene (www.artemide.com).
The range of Artemide fixtures offered in the Czech Republic by Selene is very wide - from the renowned interior fixtures of the classic Artemide collection and handmade
glass fixtures from the Artemide COLLEZIONI, to the Artemide ARCHITECTURAL lighting systems, and outdoor fixtures from Artemide DZ LICHT.

In December 2002, a specialized showroom for Artemide lighting was opened in Prague's Vinohrady. A selection of several hundred fixtures from various collections is presented here on a space larger than 250m2. Besides selling fixtures, Selene also offers related services, including lighting design, consultations, installations, warranty, and post-warranty service.
