The modern composite material Twinson is suitable for both terraces and pool surrounds at family homes. Due to its quality, durability, and strength, Twinson is an excellent alternative to hard exotic woods, which have been used for these purposes until now.

Material Selection
The surroundings of a family house in central Slovakia consist of a large garden and an outdoor pool. The owner's wish was to create a space for relaxation by the pool while ensuring that the pool is surrounded by a material that is both visually attractive and meets all standard operational demands. The material Twinson meets these strict conditions primarily due to its non-slip surface, minimal maintenance requirements, and resistance to mold and rot that occur in the humid environment that the pool edge undoubtedly represents.

Terrace and Pool Edge Made of Twinson Material
For outdoor walking areas, both terraces and pool edges, the material Twinson O-Terrace from Deceuninck in hazel brown color (color 503) was used. The terrace measuring 9 x 6 meters was placed on the side of the pool entrance and will serve as a relaxation zone close to the pool. An elevated step with a width of 44 cm was installed around the entire perimeter of the pool, creating an optical edge for the pool. Following the longer edge, the cladding transitions to tiles, and on the other side, the pool is surrounded by the garden.

Installation of the Material

The system Twinson consists of massive boards 140 mm wide, 28 mm thick, and 4.5 or 6 meters long. The terrace installation took place in two phases - preparation of the substrate and laying of the Twinson material. A substrate frame in the desired shape and size was laid on the concrete base in the selected area. Individual pieces of Twinson material were joined together with a clip system that is not visible after completion. This system allowed for easy joining of boards cut to the required length. Extensive accessories enable creating areas of unique shapes and utilizing various finishes, thus maintaining a unified style.

Protection for the Pool

Deceuninck did not only supply solutions for the surface of the terrace and pool edge but also for its covering. Here, too, the quality of the material and the safety provided by the PoolonPoolup slatted cover from Deceuninck were decisive. The cover was used on an area of 8.8 x 5.8 meters to cover the entire pool area and also for a 2x2 meters cutout to cover the steps into the water. The solar variant of slats (color 312) was chosen to assist in heating the water in the pool. The pool has water circulation managed by a sloped overflow system on the shorter side of the pool. In the recess created by this system at the bottom of the pool, there is an ideal space for placing the cover's winding system secured with an electric motor.

Excellent Alternative
The realization of the terrace and pool edge at the family house is a great example of how composite material can be utilized. It meets strict criteria for quality and resistance to external influences, particularly the formation of mold and rot. It has a non-slip surface. It gives project creators the flexibility to implement in various environments, as it is offered in eight color shades - almond beige, olive green, apricot brown, hazel brown, bark brown, turf brown, licorice black, and stone gray. An advantage is the possibility of modeling it into various geometric shapes. The material is 100% recyclable, and the pine wood that is part of it comes from sustainably managed forests, rather than endangered rainforests, as is the case with exotic hardwoods.

Technical Properties of Twinson Material Terraces
The Twinson material excels with its extremely low linear expansion (0.023mm/m.°C according to ISO 11359-2) and limited bending (E-modulus: 4500-6000N/mm˛ according to EN310). Terraces made of Twinson material show very low water absorption (0.3-0.5% after 24 hours according to EN317) and belong to the highest lifespan class (class 1 according to EN350).
