Why do studio apartments deserve special solutions? A small apartment does not necessarily have small requirements; often, it is quite the opposite. Furnishing a studio requires not only a sense for the possibilities of the space but also taste and experience in how individual apartment elements define the interior. Because within the project "Pictures Tailored to You," we collaborate with interior designers and architects and see how even unusual spaces can be interestingly arranged thanks to our offer of decorations, we decided to present their experiences with choosing wall decorations in a series of texts. We thus present the interior of the model studio apartment in the Kavčí Hory Residence along with the reasons that led the architects from the SKUTEK architecture studio to choose this decoration.
If we limit ourselves to two basic options for wall decoration - paintings and wallpaper or wall murals - the studio apartment has limited options. A quality painting needs a large space around it; in smaller apartments, it might not stand out sufficiently. In the case of the model apartment, the limitation is even greater. "Choosing the right painting is a very personal matter for each client. I see paintings as a personal expression of the client's taste. If the painting does not resonate with the client, it is unnecessary. Therefore, it does not make sense to select a specific painting for a non-specific client," explains architect Matys why the architects chose a wall mural instead of more conventional paintings for this apartment. A wall mural is a relatively unusual and stylish element compared to a painting, referencing the spaces of cinemas and music clubs. Its uniqueness and the ability to determine the style of an entire room were key advantages that led to the decision to use this type of decoration in the studio apartment. "The interior with this wall mural feels more personal, more intimate. I believe it will help visitors feel at home more quickly in the space," concludes Matys.
In general, a wall mural can be recommended even if you are striving for a more personal decoration of the interior. A motif covering the entire wall surface offers ample space for personal expression. It can serve as a good solution wherever the interior design is constrained by time or financial limitations. This decoration is uncomplicated in these respects.
On the pages of www.obrazynamiru.cz, where the decoration was also chosen by architects from SKUTEK architecture, you will find thousands of motifs. Nature photographs, images of space, retro photos, reproductions of famous works of art, as well as modern graphics and photomontages. So how to choose the right one? The choice of a specific motif should always be guided by the existing interior elements. A studio apartment does not offer much space, all elements are in close contact, and it is important that they resonate and create a pleasantly cohesive whole. The specific solution chosen by the architect for the model apartment leaned towards the choice of black-and-white photography. The space, which had already been infused with many colors due to the built-in furniture, would have been harmed by additional colors. The final choice fell on the retro photograph "Modern Age," due to its nostalgic value and charming motif. "The selection of motifs is vast, and picking one is challenging. It’s good to establish color and thematic preferences before making a selection. Fortunately, internet searching is quick and allows you to save candidates for later definitive choices. Personally, I believe that the most interesting option would be to create your own graphic motif," concludes architect Matys. Whether you choose based on themes, colors, or preferred formats, the website www.obrazynamiru.cz offers the ability to set filters for your preferences, thus guiding you to the desired motifs. If you choose to create your own motifs, "Pictures Tailored to You" can help here as well.
